Do we need the Republicans to keep corporate influence out of government?

by on February 7, 2013

If there is no Republican Party, then the corporations can corrupt the Democrats. If the Republicans are around to siphon off the corporate contributions and influence, then we can simply defeat them in the elections. Therefore it is actually a good thing to have the Republican Party around!

You’re a fool!

…Obama has the RECORD for accepting donations from corporations, more than ANY president to exist!

What’s more, what’s the Republican platform: Low taxes, small government. Corporations have absolutely no need to buy republicans – outside of the fact that the democratic policies hindering corporate freedoms installed the terms before still exist.

More important is to keep government influence out of corporations. The problem is not money in politics. The problem it is politics in money.

Put that way, I agree. Unfortunately the left is not oimmun e to selling out the country for bribes… er political contributions. Especially the “blue dog” democrats.

Perhaps. But actually electing corporatists like George W. Bush who only look after the interests of the 1% is what widened the wealth gap and caused the economic crisis to begin with. It’s crucial for us to vote in order to ensure that Republicans (the party of the 1%) stay out of office. It’s crucial that we show the Republicans for what they truly are. A party that supports subsidies to big oil companies that don’t pay taxes while bribing our politicians for more subsidies and gives nothing to the disadvantaged or disabled to help them get back on their feet again. If you vote Republican then you might as well just go back to medieval times while you’re at it and let the rich people take the wheel while the peasants like us suffer.
If we tax the rich how will they bribe our politicians? Sarcastic question for Republicans. Think about that.
