What exactly did Sarah Palin do? Will Sarah Palin be indicted for inciting violence.

Its a lie.

It’s true. It was on CNN this morning. Palin published a national map with crosshairs pointed at every congressional district she felt like was a viable electoral target including Giffords’s district.

It was in poor taste for sure, but… Can we please please stop pointing fingers. Sarah Palin’s bad taste in advertising did NOT cause 6 murders. A nutcase did.

Sarah Palin put up a map on her facebook page of 10 or so congressional seats that the Tea Party should “target.” Sarah Palin identified these seats by using the crosshairs of a gun. She was clearly referring to the second amendment. Of course, we all know there are Republicans out there like Sharron Angle who believe they need to use second amendment remedies to take their country back.

She wasn’t inciting violence because this Loughner guy has had it in for Giffords before the world knew who Sarah Palin was.

The item under discussion and protest was a map of the United States with Democrats’ districts (using the names of the Democrats whose districts these were) were targeted by CROSSHAIRS from a gun, and Palin had this flag posted to her website even after the elections were long over, made even worse by her public (and posted) “Don’t Retreat…RELOAD!” remarks that played to a heated up teapotty audience of extremists. Several Congresswomen targeted by this Palin map publicly asked her to remove the inflammatory material from a public site, and one of these women was Representative Gabrielle Giffords, but Palin arrogantly ignored their requests…

I think the families of the slain and wounded should consider filing a civil suit (each) against Palin for contributory negligence, for reckless endangerment, and for inciting violence or any other charges applicable. By keeping this map posted AFTER the election, she establishes INTENT to promote and solicit mayhem or violence against elected federal level representatives. Had she yelled “Fire!” in a nonburning crowded theater, which is what these behaviors are equal to in scope, she would be facing charges.

Jesse Kelly, Gifford’s Republican opponent in the last election, actually invited people to a fund raiser to shot a fully automatic M16 rifle at a target of Gifford’s picture.

Was this idea inspired by Palin’s “target” of candidates? You would have to ask Kelly and bring your truth serum.

Will Palin be indicted? Most likely not. Will she use better judgment in the future? We will have to wait and see. The same is true for Kelly. I believe this will be the end of Kelly’s political ambitions. Candidates need to show some common sense. Kelly is vacant in this aspect.

It comes from a Political election map from here PAC (SARAHPAC) which had key elections marked with cross hairs to denote “targeted” areas they were focusing on in the 2010 election to try and win with Palin endorsed candidates.

And the answer is no… because several Democrat groups also used similar icons for their maps, such as Bulls eye targets. That, and I hardly see that as violent. Especially when you consider that there has been far worse said about Palin before this tragedy even happened. (note, that Palin has extended her condolence to Rep. Giffords and all the victims of this shooting, and has denounced the actions of the shooter)

The reality is, those in journalism and in politics, have made war/shooting comparisons to politics for decades, such as terms such as “War Room” (Coined I believe during Clinton’s 1992 Election, to refer to a rapid response committee made by Clinton’s Election team to handle surprise, or new issues and on how to answer them) “Giving Ammo to one’s opponent” is another term, popular in debates, etc

This “news’ is more of a piece of some people doing the first, hysterical thought that came to mind, and that was pointing fingers at each other..
