Don’t Republicans pride themselves on spreading US American freedom to other countries?
Why is it that Republicans blocked the UN Disability treaty? Do they not want countries to adopt the same American values that we share regarding providing equal rights for the disabled.
Even prominent Republican Bob Dole made a special visit to the Senate to encourage his fellow Republicans to vote on this. And the Republicans betrayed him.
Why are Republicans so against any kind of progress?

Bob Dole wept at what his party has become.
Some Republicans voted FOR the UN Treaty on the Disabled. Some Republicans felt that the US Law – Americans with Disabilities Act was sufficient.
Why kowtow to the UN on an issue that has already been met by appropriate US legislation. Once you let the UN, you can’t get rid of them. And then there will be the Small Arms Treaty.
What was attached to the bill? Also, they probably had good reason since there is already a United States Federal law which covers this. They probably felt the United States government is sovereign and we shouldn’t have anything with the UN that goes over our head.
The neocon infested GOP of today only cares about tax cuts for the wealthy and corporate profits. Nothing else matters, especially if it costs money.
We have enough lawsuits in this country already.
Conservatives are anti-society, anti-civilization, anti-modernity and anti-humanity. There is no evidence to the contrary and it is time to stop telling ourselves there must be some other explanation but most crucially, it is time to stop telling ourselves that republicans want the same things as us but just have different ideas about how to accomplish it. They don’t want the same things as humans, they hate humans, everything humanity stands for and everything it does. If the rest of us can just finally accept this obvious truth, we will once and for all consign these people to their rightful place in politics (none) and finally achieve great things.

The US already has rights and protections for the disabled that exceed the UN treaty.
And the UN treaty doesn’t actually help as much as you think it does.
Making the emotional and intelligence-free claim that we voted against equal rights for the disabled is an outright lie and a smear.
The UN isn’t the source of all good – in fact, much of what it pushes is bad for freedom and prosperity.
Republicans provided their usual array of nonsensical ideological rhetoric in opposition to the treaty. Some Republicans acted reasonably but enough Republicans were against it to defeat it.
I can’t really discern from what the Republicans are saying any valid reason as to why they opposed it.
What are the chances a disabled person is a Job Creator?
I’m going to guess the answer is somewhere between Slim and None.
